Lawrence Soosai Nathan

Lawrence SoosaiNathan, an Indian Franciscan Capuchin Priest, is a teacher and a psychotherapist with a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto, Canada and a doctorate from the University of Milan, Italy.  He presently serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at Anugraha Institute of Social Sciences in Tamilnadu, India. He is also one of the founding members and currently the Secretary of the above Institute that works towards the empowerment of the rural youth, especially the girls. 

He is the founding president of the Council of Psychotherapy and Counselling (CPC), aimed to optimize counseling and psychotherapy services in Tamilnadu, India. He works in promoting mental health and well-being of the rural masses in Tamilnadu, India.  Along his psychotherapy practice, Lawrence does research in Positive Psychology and its application, Well-being perspectives in Counseling and Psychotherapy, Formative process of youth and Children. His special focus is on Altruism and individual and community well-being with mixed method and qualitative research perspectives. His current projects are 'Eudaimonic and Hedonic Happiness Investigation' and Gratitude interventions. He collaborates in national and international research works, particularly in the well-being area. 

He has authored varied article, edited books, designed text books and is a member of the curriculum designing board of Madurai Kamaraj University, India. He has cconvened four international conferences, two national conferences and has offered keynote address in many conferences. Along being a trainer, he is also a visiting faculty in academic institutions in India and abroad.
