Changing concepts of severe mental disorders

 

Prof. Cyril Höschl is a Czech psychiatrist, a popularizer of science and university teacher. After the Velvet Revolution he was the first freely elected dean of the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague (1990-1997). He worked as Vice-Dean for Reform of Studies and Foreign Relations of the Faculty (1997-2003) . Since 1990 he was the chairman of the Psychiatric Department of the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, and the Director of the Psychiatric Center in Prague, which has been transformed into the National Institute of Mental Health in 2015. In 2007-2008 he was the President of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) and in 2008-2009 the President of the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM).
