Lesser Town

On the left Vltava embankment, spreading out beneath Prague Castle, stretches one of the most delightfully beautiful and oldest quarters of Prague with its entirely unique charm – Lesser Town. The cobbled winding streets that surround Prague Castle breathe sighs of long gone history.

The settlement of this seat of Czech kings was populated as far back as the 10th century but it wasn’t really until 1257 when it was promoted to the city by Czech king Otakar II of Bohemia. Since then, the Lesser Town has been gaining in beauty and thanks to its inimitable charm it became home to many distinguished Czech personalities.
